Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find the application to become a TF?
Once the application opens mid-October, you will apply through our national office. When asked which site you are interested in, list Breakthrough Cincinnati as your top choice!
Can I get involved before Summer Scholars Program?
Yes! We are always accepting volunteers. Head to our Volunteer page to express your interest!
Where does the program take place?
We operate our Summer Scholars Program at two sites: Cincinnati Country Day Schools and the University of Cincinnati.
Who outlines the curriculum?
All Breakthrough sites work with curriculum developed by our Program Directors, Instructional Coaches, and curriculum writers. You will work with your Instructional Coach to learn how to present the material that is authentic to your teaching style and personality.
If I do not live in Cincinnati, are there any options for living
accommodations during the summer?
We are able to make living accommodations for our TFs from out of town, however space is limited. Therefore, we operate under a first come, first serve basis based on housing needs.
How do I select the subject I want to teach?
In your application, you will rank which subjects you would like to teach. During your interview, we will talk about which subjects you are most comfortable teaching. We will also discuss potential elective classes you might be able to teach.
